Silas Long (they/them) is a multimedia artist and curator living and working in Chicago,
Illinois. Their practice explores the power of horror through expressions of anxiety, unconscious
desires, and alternate worlds. Blending textiles, illustration, and sculpture, they investigate the
psychological influence of the image mediated environment.
Long’s compositions are crafted through a collage-like methods, using both digital and handmade
processes to demonstrate how images can be materialized. Their work articulates isolation in the
digital era and the relationship between mass consumption, fantasy, and mortality.
